Voter ID
Voter ID, also known as the Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC), is a document issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI) that serves as an identification document for Indian citizens who are eligible to vote. The Voter ID card contains a unique identification number, a photograph of the voter, and other personal details such as name, age, and address.
To obtain a Voter ID card, individuals need to fill out a Form 6 application and submit it along with the necessary documents such as proof of age, address, and identity. The application can be submitted online or offline at the nearest Electoral Registration Office (ERO) or Common Service Centre (CSC). After the application is verified, the Voter ID card is issued to the individual.
Voter ID is a crucial document for citizens as it enables them to exercise their right to vote in local, state, and national elections. It serves as proof of identity and helps to prevent fraudulent voting practices. It is also a valid form of identification for various other purposes such as opening a bank account or applying for a passport.
In case an individual loses their Voter ID card or needs to update the details on the card, they can apply for a duplicate or updated card by filling out the relevant application form and submitting the necessary documents.
